Buck Velvet
Real and in the flesh now!
As of right now Buck Velvet, the remake of my lost game from 5 years ago, is released! I feel self concious of the project I will admit, not because of the game itself, I think it is a neat little horror rpgmaker game and it has gotten nice reception so far, but for how long it took me. This game takes less than 20 minutes to complete and took almost an entire year between previous burnout and general life and schedule troubles clouding my production. I feel like when a game takes a while people tend to get high expectations, like "Oh Zed took a whole year on this one, that means there must be a lot!" and its like nooo it is another short game dont expect otherwise -w-)ll
I do try not to look at things like this, I know people dont watch my time the same way I do, so I shouldnt be so nervous over it. To the general public they will just see a new game pop up in a tag they like and think "Neat!" and not fine tooth comb just how long it took me. So I will do my best to just be happy it's released and I can move on to other things now. Buck Velvet has been fun in its own ways with its photo editing heavy style and the lovely Sunrot music in it, but I am eager to move on to different projects, perhaps featuring more colors. Buck Velvets aesthetic was strategically chosen to let my burnt out self still make a game while doing minimal art, so much of it is black and white edited photos with occassional pops of red. The downside of this is now that I've felt more willing to draw these past few months I have been restless while working on Buck Velvet, thinking of all the more art involved projects I see lining up to be next as I churned out the last few cgs.
On the note of next projects, I can at least illuminate whats next bow that Buck Velvet is out. It will be a kinetic novel about an encounter with an angel while walking to work one morning, and it will have editted photo backgrounds I took and drawn sprites and cgs. I am hoping to have this project out before the end of the year, as right now the actual game and backgrounds for the most part are finished, if it was a twine game it would be done lol. I am really excited to get to it, all the backgrounds are photos I took almost a year ago, lovely moody photos of early morning snow that inspired me a lot. Will hopefully start work on this sometime this week now that Buck Velvet has been released on the general public, and once I'm working on that I will begin trying to type up some of the various plans for next years game line up so... look forward to that!
